Are you sure you have the address right? A comprehensive listing of all the theatres in Chicago's history has no record of one at 739 N Clark. The closest would be 750 N Clark and 663 N Clark. It also has records of a theatre (name unknown) at 749 N Clark, but that was back from 1910-1913.

What makes you think it was a theatre/cinema? Many buildings had the look of a marquee outside, and the dual attraction boards shown in the photo could easily be another business.

The building was apparently some kind of barbeque joint:

called Smoky Smother

There was, however, The Standard at 750 North Clark.

Strangely, the 739 address belongs to the Trabert and Hoeffert Jewelry Company, perhaps from when that was a line of "jewelry" stores.
