This is listed in the 1950's as the Crenshaw, seating 800

This theatre goes back alittle earlier than 1950 to early 40's. During its last days as a movie theatre it showed movies from Japan. It was called the Kukusai Theatre during that time.

Bill is quite right. I remember going to the Crenshaw Theatre shortly after it opened, probably ca. 1945.

By the way, as I recall the Hyde Park area of LA was farther south on Crenshaw Blvd., between 54th Street and Florence Ave.
