After 41 years, growing from 1 screen to 7, the Douglas Cinema Center theater will close after last showing tonight. With the exception of the Q Cinema 9 (which has been demolished) and the Cinema Center, all Douglas theater in Omaha were purchased by Marcus theaters several months ago and are now operating under the Marcus logo. The Cinema Ceter was originally planned to close in November. A short reprieve extended closing until after the holidays. Tonight the theater will go dark with a local radio station broadcasting from the theater. Patrons will be able to recall their experiences on air.Douglas was always a quality operation, maintining their high quality service up to the end. They will be sorely missed.
