I was told the Moreno Valley, CA. Towngate 8 Cinemas (former Edwards, more recently Ultra Star), has a new operator and will reopen sometime next month. The big question is what sort of format will they have? Harkins basically has first run wrapped up in the area, Ultra Star is operating the Canyon Springs 7 as a second run, and I don't see Moreno Valley supporting an 8 screen art house.

I did once predict that Canyon Springs would go arthouse since they've shown those kinds of films in the past.

Maybe they will now.

Perhaps Regency has acquired Towngate like they did Rialto.

Regency has picked up the theatre and it looks like they will be running it as a discount.

This theatre is now listed on the Regency site, but no information is provided, other than ticket prices ($2 and $3).

It reopened on July 6th and is playing almost the exact same line up of second run fare as the nearby Canyon Springs 7.
