From the Waterbury Republican-American :
BARKHAMSTED -- The movie theater at Mallory Brook Plaza on Route 44 is not closing. Rather, it will have new owners under a different name.
Signs posted on the window of the Cinerom theater state the current owners' lease has expired, and they thank their customers for their patronage. It goes on to say that patrons can redeem their movie passes and gift cards at the Cinerom theater in Torrington, at 89 Farley Place, next to the Kmart Plaza.
Carol Sadlon of Lakeville, who co-owns the two Cinerom theaters with her husband, Robert, said their lease with the plaza owner expires Aug. 31. She said ending their 15-year operation at Mallory Brook was a "financial decision," so Aug. 31 is the last day the theater will be open under the Cinerom name.
On Sept. 1, the theater will become known as Mallory Brook Cinema Nine under the ownership of Cinema Holdings Group, based in New York City, according to plaza owner Leon Reich of New York City. He said the change in ownership had more to do with the Sadlons being unable to maintain the property.
