While driving through Crosbyton, Texas, I saw a mural on a building depicting a street scene and a cowboy standing in front of the "Chieftain" Theatre.

Did this theater actually exist or is the mural just paying homage to the High School football team?

Previous research up to about 1960 only shows the Crystal and Queen theatres.

Yes, there was a Chieftain in Crosbyton. A movie calendar from 1957 can be seen here.
