Looks like a case of wishful thinking if you ask me. What features of the building make you think it might have been a cinema?

Sure has the right style wall from front to back but, as wide as the building looks there is not enough height at the front for a booth.

Also the building is set back off the street a fair distance. I should think if it were a theatre it would be at the edge of the sidewalk.
