An AMC 30 can close several large plexes and change plans for others.

AMC Cantera opens in a Chicago Suburb, closes AMC Ogden six

Ogden 6 is sold to Classic Cinemas ending their plans for a four-screen down-town location in a booming suburb and expansion plans at their main single screen ended with General Cinema 18 nearby.

Another company ended construction of a 8 to 10 screen theater, later completed by small regional NOVA Cinemas.

Cineplex Odeon - closed Fox Valley 1-6 and later 7-10 nearby theaters sharing name. Also Rice Lake 8-screens. They also closed their in mall locations multiplexes Stratford Square, Woodfield-moved to Streets of Woodfield, Oak Brook mall - upscale mall, yet their signage even remains somewhat intact, strange almost underground enterance by the parking decks.

Classic Cinemas actually closed a multiplex when a larger Regal became available in Charlestowne Mall, St. Charles, IL - not long after buying and remodeling the smaller Plitt-Cineplex Odeon theater into stadium theaters - about 5-6 for a much larger multiplex.

Cineplex Odeon Complexe Desjardins 4 (Offices)
Famous Players Palace 6 (Call center for Best Buy and retail)
Cineplex Odeon Centre Ville 9 (Mailroom for London Life-there were really tiny showboxes)
Famous Players Centre Eaton 6 (empty)
Famous Players Loews 5 (became Club Med World, which flopped now a gym and a Foot Locker)
Cineplex Odeon Egyptien 3 (being gutted for parking and Spa Diva Medical)
Cineplex Odeon Le Fabourg 4 (Concordia University classrooms)
Cineplex Odeon Atwater 3 (Zeller's moved in)

In the Boston area, AMC-Loews closed the 12-screen Assembly Square Cinemas a year ago - January 15, 2007. It still stands empty.

At one time this was the largest multiplex in New England.
