AMC Avco Cinemas in Westwood area of Los Angeles is now listed for lease on Loopnet now.

If AMC is paying anything close to that lease amount (doubtful), the theater must be bleeding badly...

I think it is just a matter of time when this will cease opration, and that time could be sooner than later. What is being asked to lease is just not realistic for what will be given in return.

I'm happy Regency is running the Village and the Bruin, but they cannot be making a large profit on them. The rest of the chain must be doing well enough for them to take a loss. But the Village and Bruin have a historical value and prestige. The AVCO has no identity any longer.

You never really know -- sometimes landlords will have people operate at a cheaper rate just to keep the building occupied until they can get a solid buyer/lessee.

According to someone on CinemaTreasure, AVCO is closing on the 4th. Many good times here at the AVCO. I will miss it.

Looks like the AVCO could be Cinemaopolis entry into Los Angeles.
