SR Entertainment Group has opened up a new 16 screen movie theater inside of a former Mervyn's Department store in Rocklin, California.

I don't know about the exact details of this new theater, but some of their theaters that they opened in recent years have had screens that feature right and left side masking. I think that they are an ok movie theater chain.

This theater has interesting design in that they are an all digital theater and there is no projection booth. The projectors are hanging on the walls inside of each auditorium. I have never seen anything like that.

Perhaps it was cheaper to not build a projection booth in the building. The building was never designed to be a movie theater. They are simply reusing the shell of the former Mervyn's store. Building a booth would have been more work.

Scroll to the right to the projector hanging on the wall:

Wow, I would be worried about kids screwing with that projector lens! In my experience working at a multiplex, chucking Bon-Bons at the screen was routine.

The auditorium pictured is top-masked.
