Hmmm...just from that pic, the neighborhood looks very nice and doesn't seem to be crying out for "redevelopment". Will the theater be sticking around?

BTW, anyone else amused that they were running a midnight show of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" in April?

The Rialto is run by Landmark Theatres and has midnight showings of cult favorites (Goonies seems to be a recurring favorite). The Rialto used to program Independent and Foreign fare, but lately seems to be booking surefire blockbusters: Superman Returns, Departed, Borat. They must be feeling the heat because nearby Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena has glut of screens including 2 Laemmle Multiplexes showing mostly Indie, Art and Foreign fims, a Regency move over 6 plex showing a mix of Indie and comemrcial fare, and a big Pacific Studium multiplex.

The Landmark ad is touting the "New Digital Sound System" at the Rialto.
