The Gem Theatre in Claude, Texas has been live since 1994. Purchased by the Armstrong County Museum in 1993, the Gem was renovated so that both movies and live stage shows could be presented. The Gem originally opened as the “Claudia Theater” October 8, 1915 with a showing of the movie "Jimmy Valentine." One week later the first stage show was presented, "Holland’s All White Minstrels" Later the name was changed to the Rialto and then about 1934 it was renamed the Gem. The Gem is now recognized as a presenting theatre by the Texas Commission on the Arts which open the way for Texas Touring Artists to perform on stage. The schedule may be view by opening www.armstrongcountymuseum.org
