According to a post at the Dallas Historical Society message board, the poster talked with employees there last weekend, and they said the theater will close this Thursday night (5-4) after the evening's movies run that night. As the new AMC NorthPark 15 will open the next day, Friday 5-5, this looks to be an official replacement for the Glen Lakes. The poster also referred to the Glen Lakes as one of the few remaining local theaters that didn't have stadium seating. For many years, the AMC Glen Lakes was the main host of the USA Film Festival, which, strangely enough, is being held this year at the new AMC NorthPark 15 all this week and last. In the last few years, the Festival has been held at the Angelika-Mockingbird Station in Dallas (with, I believe, some related/overflow events at the Magnolia theater).

I posted my thoughts on the Glen Lakes closure on the thread about NorthPark, but it should be pointed out that it did have stadium seating in at least three or four auditoriums...not as elaborate or complete as most post-1995 megas, but it did have them.

For those who haven't seen the building, here are some pictures taken last week by a regular poster of the forum at the Dallas Historical Society before the Glen Lakes closed.
