Local television and newspapers are reporting that the Vogue in Manistee (MI) has closed as of 5/10.
Tops among the reasons is competition from the new 8 screen GKC Harbor Cinemas in Ludington, about 30 miles away.
The Vogue has been listed for sale for some time. City officials hope the Vogue can re-open, but expect tax breaks would be necessary to make it viable. Also, reports say that exterior stucco is breaking off, creating a safety hazard, and the sidewalk has been barricaded. The Vogue was built in 1938, and had been converted to two screens in the (probably) the '90s.
