June 5th, 1905 is recognized as the opening date of the country's first Nickelodeon on Smithfield Street in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Today the only sign of its existence is a bronze plaque on the side of the former Frank & Seder Department Store, marking the location of where the Nickelodeon once stood. This is a very historic date and place. I will follow up with a photo of the plaque, as my contribution to the memory of what and where it all started....the birthplace of continuous showing of "pictures that moved"!
