Re: Loews

The backwards L-design is the same they have at Garden State Plaza (AMC Garden State 16) with two theaters to the left of the concessions, and the other 14 to the right, with 10 of those down a long hallway. This was also a Loews design finished by AMC, that unlike Rockway (which had Loews style carpeting, seats, ect), they put some AMC touches in to (AMC seats, carpet, signage, ect).

The AMC Garden State 16 (Paramus, NJ) layout is just like the AMC Loews Alderwood 16 (Lynnwood, WA). They are very similar in features. Garden State was being built when AMC purchased Loews Cineplex Entertainment. Garden State is in a mall, and Alderwood is a "stand alone" right next to a mall. Picture of Garden State 16 below....

News from Regal Entertainment Group's website: LA Live 14 is slated to open in 2009. And...it WILL have an IMAX after all!

News for my fellow St. Louisans:

The theater at the Gravois Bluffs Shopping Center, orginally scheduled to be opened by Wehrenberg, will now be opened by Great Escape Cinemas. Here's proof:

Great Escape Web Site

Great Escape already operates a theater in O'Fallon, MO, not far from Wehrenberg's Town Square 12 in Dardenne Prairie. Seems like this new company is giving Wehrenberg a run for their money!!

Feel free to comment...

Due to slow setbacks, the AMC-Loews Atlantic Times Square 14 in Monterey Park will open in Fall 2009.

This will definitely make it the last Loews designed theatre to open...only 3 years after the merger!

Ground has broken on a new district in Carson, CA called "The Boulevards At South Bay". It will feature a new 12 or 14 screen theatre (I think its 14). Should open in 2011. No name for an operator. I'm thinking AMC though, since it seems like they have a stronghold in the South Bay.

This must be the new construction parcel that you can see from the 405 between the 110 Interchange & Avalon Blvd - across the road from the Southbay Pavillion (which, by the way, was slated to have a Magic Johnson Theatres built there back in the 90's but, obviously, never happened).

And...on the Project link on top of the page, it says it'll be a 16 screener.

Got something cool in my mail today. In Inglewood, the famed Hollywood Park Racetrack & Casino will be shuttered and replaced with a brand new project called Hollywood Park Tomorrow. The project includes parks, new homes, retail, restaurants, and...

A 16 Screen theatre.

No date was listed for a projected opening on the site. This, along with the Carson project, is a good news for South LA movie fans!

Does that area have a lack of good theaters? It seems like the closest theaters to Hollywood Park are a little old.

That area has a lack of theatres period. The closest theatres to Hollywood Park are The Bridge in Westchester & Magic Johnson Theatres LA. There are currently no open movie theatres in Inglewood.

Its been a while for an update on the last known Lowes designed AMC Theatre. But walls are going up finally....almost 4 years after being first announced in 2005.

According to the City of Monterey Park website, the Retail portion is to open Dec 8, 2009. As for the theatre??!?!?!

I drove by and snapped a couple of shots. Also below, I have included the layout as posted back in 2006 or so:

As you can see, its a pretty small looking 14 plex. It is really tall though. I do expect this to be all digital since AMC has been going that way lately.

I'll take some more once they start getting more up. As you can see, the shopping center/apartment homes to the left of the theatre are coming along nicely. Im thinking this summer the theatre will be fast.

Regal's LA Live 14 now has signage. I was passing by the Staples/LA Live area on the 110 yesterday and saw it for myself. I'm guessing it'll be open in November with Jim Carrey's "A Christmas Carol in Disney Digital 3D" as the featured attraction.

I saw that. Im suprised that the signage is up early.

Also, the AMC Loews 14 has walls going up this week.

The article about Mann Theatres selling Grauman's Chinese and other theatres posted in another forum also says that Regal expects to have their new LA Live 14 theatre open in October.
