Downtown D.C. Gets New TheatersWRC-TV Updated: 8:26 a.m. ET Jan. 06, 20048:00 a.m. EST January 6, 2004 -
Almost everyone who walks past the corner of E and 11th streets glances inside the new E Street Cinema. On Friday, the theater officially opens eight screens.
It's the first new movie theater in downtown Washington in almost a generation.
Landmark Theaters will operate the new cinema and will show independent and classic films.
The new theaters have state-of-the-art projectors and digital facilities. The theater also features a well-stocked concession stand complete with an espresso bar.
E Street Cinema plans to keep ticket prices under $10.
